Bridge work to start under the motorway in September

We’re carrying out this work in phases, starting with repairs to the bridge from underneath the motorway. The M5 will be open as usual during this phase.

We will be setting up two temporary access roads to the east of the motorway to allow us to get people and equipment under the bridge.

One will run from the end of Station Road along the route of the M5 up to the railway line. Another will be to the north of the railway, and come off Wick Road.

There will also be a site compound to the south of the A370 at the junction with Silver Moor Lane. This will provide site offices, welfare facilities and space to store materials.

Work to set these up will start on Monday 2 September. The roads will be there until we finish our work under the bridge, when the areas will be returned to their current condition. The compound will remain until all our work is complete.

We’ll be starting work on the M5 carriageway next year. We’ll provide more details here as our work progresses.
