A27 bridge repairs between Havant and Emsworth

  Works starting 12 August to 30 September 2024

  We’ll soon be restarting our repairs and maintenance to the A27 bridge that goes over Wade Court Road between Havant and Emsworth.

  Works will be undertaken in two phases and include the replacing bridge joints, waterproofing, resurfacing, and replacement of the central concrete barrier.

  We’ve completed our vegetation works and have now installed our narrow lanes.

  Please note we’ve updated our Phase 2 works, and that our first weekend closure will be on the westbound carriageway.

  Please note these works will generate some noise for which we apologise in advance.

  Phase one

  Narrow lanes and 50mph speed limit installation and removal dates:

  • Monday 12 August (installation)
  • Thursday 12 September (removal)

  Westbound overnight closures

  • Tuesday 13 August to Monday 12 September (8pm to 6am)
  • Please note there will be no overnight closure on Tuesday 27 August

  Eastbound overnight closures

  • Monday 12 August for one night (8pm to 6am)
  • Wednesday 14 for two nights (8pm to 6am)
  • Thursday 29 August for one night (8pm to 6am)
  • Monday 9 September for one night (8pm to 6am)
  • Thursday 12 September for one night (8pm to 6am)

  Phase two

  Full westbound weekend closure:

  • 9pm Friday 13 September to 6am Monday 16 September
  • From Monday 16 September for four nights there will be overnight closures on the westbound carriageway.

  Full eastbound weekend closure:

  • 9pm Friday 20 September to 6am Monday 23 September

  • From Monday 23 September for four nights there will be overnight closures on the eastbound carriageway.

  Diversion for traffic in both directions

  Eastbound traffic will be diverted via Park Road South, Park Road North, B2149, Bartons Road, Horndean Road, Southleigh Road and Emsworth Road.

  Westbound traffic will follow the same route in the opposite direction.
