Work starts 15 April 2024
We'll soon be starting our resurfacing work on the A14 between junction 43 (Bury St Edmunds) and 47a (Woolpit). This work will also include replacing traffic signs, road markings and road studs (cat's eyes). Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface.
Our work will be done in two phases, starting on Monday 15 April 2024. We’ll be working overnight between 8pm and 6am on weeknights only, weather conditions permitting.
Closures and diversions
Phase 1 – A14 eastbound between junctions 43 and 47, from Monday 15 April to June 2024.
Phase 2 – planned for early 2025. Details will be confirmed nearer the time.
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A14 eastbound between junctions 43 and 47, and divert traffic.
Eastbound traffic will exit the A14 at junction 43 and travel along the A143 to Scole, then south on the A140 to rejoin the A14 at junction 51.
